An election? We prefer to call it a job interview.
If you’re a registered voter in California, you have a few decisions to make. As a member of one of the world’s largest hiring boards, you and 8 to 15 million of your fellow Californians will decide who ought to run our state. This is about more than picking the applicants you like the best. You’re also deciding how we collectively manage our finances, keep our most vulnerable citizens healthy and safe, protect our environment, and plan for our future. You’ll also have the chance to weigh in directly on the rules that we all have to live with.
There’s a long list of positions to fill (from governor to senator to controller—we’ll explain what that is here too). And there are 11 ballot measures, from repealing the gas tax hike to paving the way for rent control’s comeback.
We’ve put together all the information you’ll need to make an informed decision—including side-by-side comparisons of candidate positions on dozens of issues, and videos that highlight what you need to know about those ballot props in less than one minute.
So explore any or all that this voter guide has to offer—we’ll be continually adding to it between now and November. And then choose wisely.
